The school was founded in August 1999 utilizing a former day-care center which we remodeled. The plan was to work with an investor who would build a school according to our specifications on an acre of land he owned; he would then lease it to us.
Unfortunately it turned out the property was not zoned for schools and rezoning was not feasible. We expanded our school for the 2000-2001 school year by adding a ninth grade and utilizing two classrooms in nearby St. Martin's Episcopal Church. St. Martin graciously offered this space for gratis. During the 2001-2002 school year, St Martin housed the 6th-8ffi grades.
On March 15, 2002, the school bought approximately 3 1/2 acres of land in Matthews, N.C. which is south of charlotte, N.C. A modular unit was built to serve as the school. This new venue is currently being used to house all classes.
